Some individuals believe that the governments should invest more in public transport to reduce the increasing traffic and pollution while others believe that the construction of more roads is a better solution to address the traffic issues. I completely agree that the public transportation must be the sector which should be focused on but building more roads can also be a solution which addresses many issues.
The people always want something which will help them reach their destination in the least amount of time because travelling from a particular destination to another is always a hassle and also as a matter of fact, not everyone likes a hectic and uncomfortable commute. Investing funds in the public transport would enable this department to increase their bus fleets in accordance to the funding which would advance the society to have a comfortable commute which every common man or woman is looking forward to in the society at a minimum cost. Another factor which we could tackle by this investment is that pollution would be reduced as there would be a single vehicle which would be utilized to transport approximately 30-40 people in a go as compared to a car which has the capacity of a maximum of 5 individuals. This would be a groundbreaking approach which would not only reduce the pollution drastically but also promote a healthier ecosystem which the world is currently focused on.
As opposed to building more roads which many people feel is a better solution to traffic problems, I would like to address this at a lower impactful implementation as compared to investing in public transport due to the reason mainly being- even with the construction of more roads ,we might be able to tackle the traffic problem but with the ever increasing population and pollution, we would come to a standstill in the coming future. The construction of more roads would tackle the traffic problem for now but in the long run it wouldn’t be as beneficial as expected and we don’t want the country to end up looking like a concrete jungle.Living in a concrete jungle would increase the pollution at the maximum level and also affect the mental health of the individuals living in that respective city .If we have more public transport options we would reach our destinations in lesser amount of time as compared to the construction of more roads which would be filled with roundabouts and confusing signals and lanes which would rather cause a sense of confusion among the people on how to reach their relevant destinations.
In conclusion, building roads could be a short term solution to address the traffic and pollution issues .However, the use of public transport would be beneficial in the long run as it will be possible to limit the pollution and traffic issues in the growing economy and move towards a greener future.
