Nowadays, rush on roads and increasing evironmental issues have caused a major concern in the society. While some say that government should take responsibilty and spend funds on general modes of travelling mediums so that there will be less cars to damage the environment and congestion on roads will be controlled,others think that constructing more freeways will be the most effective answer to these issues. In this essay, both views wil be discussed before presenting my own opinion.
On one hand, supporters of the public transport believe that government should consider allocating capitals on general transportation as this would be effective in reducing traffic as more people would use these for migration purposes meaning less cars. Due to this, pollution would be managed with great effect as well such as noise pollution, air pollution etc, as there are less private vehicles, so less contributions to pollute the environment. For instace, the air index quality in sub continental region is hazardous, as a result of not managing the public transportation properly, everyone has their own private medium of migration which contributes alot in polluting the air.
On the contrast, many say that only relying on transporting through general means is not enough, contructing the roads for more spacing will effectively solve al the issues as the roads will be more specious which would make it much more comfortable and feasible for the public to reach their destinations on time. In addition, it would also help in managing pollution as it would reduce road pollution, over crowding and noise pollution. For example, according to a study, accident rates in pakistan are approximately 44% more than in Saudia Arabia. The reason behind it is that the main road in Pakistan called gt road is only 2 lane road,whereas the latter has atleast 3 lanes on every type of road which makes them more spacious and easier to drive on.
Personally, I believe that more roads being constructed is the better solution to the issue as this provides public the freedom and flexibity to chose any means and helps with fighting most of the environmental issues as well.
In conclusion, although providing funds to public transportation can be effective and useful, it is not the most preferable way to tackle the issues. The constrution of roads allows public to be more flexible and it also addresses the mentioned issues such as polution and traffic.
