Some people believe that authorities should pay the housing cost for people who cannot afford to pay for it. From my point of view, I partly agree with this statement. Discussed below are several reasons in favor of my perspective.
One of the primary reasons why I support this view is social equality and justice. With the housing cost supported by the government, the gap between poverty and wealth can be reduced, resulting in the prevention of social issues such as homelessness, crime and urban slums.To illustrate this point, consider the case of that many young criminals, doing illegal activities to cover living expenses, are served a prison sentence. As a result, citizens do not need to worry about public security, making them trust in the government.
On the other hand, there are several arguments in support of the idea that the financial burden on citizens. In fact, people have this opinion because free housing campaigns ruin an exaggerative amount of money, leading to increased taxes. This means that people need to pay more money to taxes for authorities to launch free housing campaigns, resulting in the financial pressure put on each household. For instance, part of citizens only make ends meet and cannot afford more tax costs, therefore, individuals might be faced with psychological pressure about paying high taxes. As a result, they not only have to cover living expenses but also need to earn more money by doing part-time jobs to cover tax costs. All in all, the financial burden on citizens is one of the main reasons for this perspective.
Hence to recapitulate, the above mentioned facts have created a dilema when people evaluate the impact of this issue, and it is still a controversial problem. As far as I am concerned, it could have both negative and positive impacts. People should have further consideration on this issue.
