There has been considerable debate whether governments should invest more money in sports facilities for ordinary people rather than professional athletes. I partially agree with this statement since I firmly assert that a lot of ordinary citizens need sports facilities to maintain their health and wellbeing. However, professional athletes also need these places due to their extensive training for preparing themselves in competitions.
One of the main reasons that there should be more investment in sports facilities for common individuals is stabilizing healthiness and mentality. These citizens come from diverse ages and backgrounds, for instance, children need playgrounds to support their brain and social improvement, teenagers use fields, pools, skateparks to exercise and gain their skills, while adult and elderly people go to gym or other sports to relax their bodies and maintain valuable organs in good condition.
On the other hand, more investment in sport facilities for professional athletes could be beneficial too, sportspeople contribute a lot to country pride and competitiveness. Therefore, they need to be supported by the government while they are training and practicing, they need more space and equipment to develop their abilities. This policy would increase their motivation to face the competitor. For example, if a runner from a remote village does not have any appropriate running field or treadmill, to be successful in national or even international tournaments, the government should provide a mentor and place to run.
In summary, both statements for giving more investment for ordinary people or professional athletes have their own benefits. An investment that focuses more on common people stabilizes healthiness and wellbeing of the citizens while concerning professional athletes also gives a positive impact to national pride and sports professionalism.
