On the one hand, there are two reasons that many people think that they are independent in life. First, people are increasingly utilizing digital technology. With the development of digital technology, people spend more time developing themselves, thereby reducing their reliance on others. Secondly, individuals value personal freedom and economic development opportunities. Globalization of the economy encourages individuals to focus on career development. They tend to focus on their personal development, thereby gaining greater control over their careers and lifestyles. With today’s trends, many individuals are crucial to the quality of life; therefore, they are less susceptible to external influences and more assertive. In addition, autonomy helps many people perform better at work when autonomy allows them to make decisions and maximize their abilities.
On the other hand, dependence on others is increasingly prevalent. The first benefit is that the development of society makes many people tend to depend on each other because of other dominating factors. For example, exported foods are local items and can only be enjoyed by people in other places. Moreover, the increasing demand for tourism means that service is also focused by many people, and of course, receiving good service helps people have a better mood. The second benefit is that without interdependence, being alone is easy to lead to being eliminated from society. The challenges and complexities in society require the cooperation of many people to solve. For example, in a team-based activity, discussion and help from group members can help the job get done better than doing it alone.
In conclusion, both dependence and interdependence in society are essential for development. Depending on the circumstances, an appropriate balance is necessary.
