Band 6+: Some people think that increasing the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles is one of the best ways to solve environmental problems. Do you agree or disagree and give your own opinion?

In the contemporary era, the environment is the most crucial concern to both governments and individuals in the globe. To address pressing matters related to the environment, some believe that rising the cost of gasoline applied for automobiles and other modes of transportation brings greatest benefits. From my perspective, I absolutely consent to this idea.

There is a myriad of benefits of rising fuel prices. One common example is that it can be a contributor to environmental protection. The explanation for this could be that individuals tend to less use their private vehicles due to the expensive fossil fuel, as a result, the amount of carbon footprint emitted to the environment would diminish. Another positive effect of this change is that the proportion of industrial waste would experience a downward trend due to a decline in the car manufacturing industry. It is evident that when the gasoline cost gets higher, people would stop driving automobiles as frequently as they used to, leading to a falling demand in car markets, which indirectly less harm the environment.

On top of that, governments can earn a huge amount of money from the difference compared to the standard price before. Consequently, they can allocate these funds to preserve the environment such as reinforcing the waste management systems, investing to develop eco-friendly vehicles, or running several campaigns to raise awareness among communities. However, I reckon that there are various alternatives that authorities can undertake to mitigate environmental issues. They, for instance, can set the limit upon the number of private car owners or apply driving limits based on plates to residents, which aims to reduce the use of private cars.

In conclusion, I totally believe that the increase in fuel costs brings various advantages such as cutting down the amount of carbon emissions and industrial waste and providing financial incentives to cope with environmental matters. Having said that, setting limits on the number of car owners and driving days should also be considered.
