There are debates about whether conducting worldwide sports events like Olympic Games or football World Cup requires big amount of funding. In my opinion, while organization of such events might demand generous investments, it’s worth its price.
To host a solemn international sports events, countries often have to build new stadiums, decorate the regions, and conduct the flow of sportsmen, which requires a large amount of money. That being said, the government would have to provide amenities for the guests, investments and salaries for the employees, working to organize the event itself. For example, Qatar’s estimated expenditures after organizing the last football World Cup reached billions of dollars. However, the views that collected the event itself, donations and entering fees provided by contestants quickly recovered the budget.
On the other hand, broadcasting of special sport occasions promotes healthy lifestyle to viewers, encouraging them to physical activity and proper diet. By that, I mean popularity of Olympic Games and similar sport competitions can contribute to population’s health boost and create a stronger nation. Moreover, the host country’s economy would be bolstered, after an agitation in the world stage and attracting more tourists to the region.
In conclusion, although it is dubious if the management and creation of international sports events such as Olympic Games and other competitions leads to huge expenditures, I believe that the resources spent on organizing those events worth its value as it helps to create a good mindset for the viewers and cultivate a strong economical profit from the tourists flow.
