It is quite a common debate these days whether people who live abroad should adapt to their culture or create a separate society with similar traditions. Personally I agree with the first opinion, because living apart from others and chose only familiar zone in another country may have negative effect, but at the same time it can help people to manage with stress.
On the one hand, accepting and trying to follow others culture may be considered as a respectful gesture. When person is moving to a new country, everything and everyone seem unknown and the best way to get closer with society is learning their culture. Local citizens will appreciate it and it may boost socializing process. As a result, person can become a part of community and make new friends in this country. Moreover, to avoid misunderstandings newcomers should learn foreign culture actively, as it may differ from their.
However, on the other hand, adaptation to a new surrounding can be difficult. It is a big stress to dive in a completely different culture and small communities with people who share same culture and lifestyle can be a good solution. Another factor that supports the existing of these groups is homesickness. Many people living abroad miss their own traditions and other attributes and such development can solve this problem. Almost in every place there are group of people that have similar language, food and interests. It is not only helps with managing problems, but makes people closer.
In conclusion, I believe that people should accept and learn the culture of place where they live, but saving their culture and creating own community will not harm anyone and may bring benefits to a better adaptation.
