Several individuals might believe that the physical well-being of an athlete plays a crucial role in winning a certain sport, while others may argue that a sportsman’s mentality is what matters the most. I agree that the mental state of an individual participating in a sport decides if one will win or loose, since it playes an immense role.
The physical state of a sportsman is key to his success in certain sports. This is because, one’s physical condition is significant in active sports, while in non-active sports it is not of much importance. In active sports, such as swimming, the player should be physically fit to succeed. The reason for this is that, when a person feels good physically it was automatically make them mentally ready for the situation, since they know they are ready to face it. For example, even if one is intellectualy drained, knowing that one’s body feels ready to face the challenge will allow them to win.
It is important that a player has a particular level of mental stability inorder to perform well in any sport. This is because, a person’s mentality affects how one’s body functions. Regardless of how hard an individual has trained for any sport, the brain is what coordinates all the remaining organs of the body, so a restless, disturbed or irritated brain will minimize the person’s ability to perform to one’s best ability. For instance, if a runner chooses to train non-stop until the day of he tournament, disregarding one’s mental state, they will most probably run a lesser amount of kilometres per given time during the race. Therefore, I agree that, despite how expereinced a sportsman is, it is best to be mentaly strong inorder to win.
In conclusion, even though people argue that a sportsman’s physical well-being plays a significant role in how he performs. I believe that a player’s success is solely determined by one’s mental state, as it controls how the body functions.
