Intelligence was often determined through a person’s achievements, glory, and contribution to society, however some individuals believe that is not the only effective way to calculate intelligence. I believe that only certain factors intelligence such as academics can be based off their success, as there are several other factors that would decide the intelligence of a human being as well.
Firstly, intelligence could be decided by other factors as it should be measured based on the natural abilities of each person respectively. The term “intelligence” can be defined as the amount of knowledge and understanding a person holds on any interest or field. For example, a chef who had been training and practicing their crafts for years or even decades should be titled intelligent considering the amount of understanding the chef holds in his brain towards culinary and cooking. Therefore, intelligence should be measured based on their knowledge on their respective interest, specialty or field.
Moreover, it can be firmly agreed that the success of a person should not be the sole determinant and assumption towards the intelligence of a person. Certain success can be derived from a group of individuals, therefore some people might’ve contributed more than others to the overall success of an entire team. For example, an investor could have shared some funds to another individual to startup a technological company, however the person that contributes the most would be the individual with the knowledge about machineries, devices and technology therefore that specific individual should be titled with high intelligence in technology. Both the founder of the company and the investor succeeded due to the company exponentially growing, but this does not mean that the investor had higher intelligence than the founder as the founder was the individual who had the knowledge to start up a technological company.
In conclusion, it is ineffective to assume a person’s intelligence just off their success, instead it is extremely crucial that we consider their “intelligence” and knowledge towards their speciality , as well as how much a person has contributed to the success of many. This would ensure that people can be recognised as being intelligent based off their abilities but not their success.
