In the modern era of entertainment, sports and their players have undeniably become integrated one of its core foundation. In light of this, the professionals of each sports are paid an exuberant amount of money as they are the key figures of the sport’s success. However, some believe that they aren’t as worthy of such monetary gain as other pivotal occupations. In this essay, I personally agree with this statement.
On the one hand, people believe professional sports players should be paid a vast sum of money as they spend their whole lives in pursuit of the sport, and entertaining billions of people around the world. The players have to stake their lives each time they play because losing a match, especially in the high level, can be equivalent to losing their job. For example, the football world cup is an event held every four years to find the country with the best footballers in the world. As a result, billions of people around the world come to watch in anticipation of finding the new world champion. Hence, some feel that they should be rewarded for their determination to the sport.
Despite sports being highly enjoyable for all people around the world, some believe that their professional players are paid excessively, especially in comparison to other careers which are crucial to society. Though there’s no doubt sports players provide a great deal of entertainment to people worldwide, I consider careers such as doctors and teachers to be more valuable in terms of their contribution to society’s development. For instance, without teachers, the youth wouldn’t have someone to guide, protect, and nurture them to become ideal citizens of society. However, even with this daunting task, they are paid a minuscule amount of money compared to sports players.
In conclusion, this essay agrees that professional sports players earn excessive income. Although they are a key part of today’s entertainment, other occupations that support people directly, such as teachers, are worthy of more monetary incentives.
