Public health is an important issue in every society. While some people believe that governments should be responsible for protecting people’s health, others argue that individuals should take responsibility for their own well-being. In my opinion, both the government and individuals have important roles to play.
On the one hand, governments should take responsibility for public health because they have the resources and authority to provide essential medical services. They can build hospitals, make treatment more affordable and organise vaccination programmes to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Furthermore, public awareness campaigns can educate people about healthy eating and disease prevention. For example, government-funded vaccination programmes can protect large numbers of people from serious illnesses. Therefore, government action is essential for improving public health.
On the other hand, individuals must also take care of their own health because their daily habits have a significant impact on their physical and mental well-being. Eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly and avoiding harmful habits can reduce the risk of many diseases. In addition, people should attend regular medical check-ups to identify potential health problems at an early stage. For instance, someone who exercises regularly and limits their consumption of unhealthy food is more likely to maintain a healthy weight. Thus, personal responsibility is equally important.
In conclusion, although governments should provide accessible healthcare services and promote public awareness, individuals must adopt healthy lifestyles and make responsible choices. I believe that cooperation between governments and individuals is the most effective way to improve public health.
