Band 5+: Some people think that schools should stop using books and, instead, use videos, computers, and other modern technology for teaching. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is believed that learning places must not utilise books to deliver knowledge rather Television and Personal computers should be used to teach in study halls. I agree with this viewpoint because the modern teaching method offer variety of ways to gain knowledge clearly and easily. However, books offer uninterrupted focus that might be difficult to found in other learning methods.

Firstly, rapid advancement in technology sector have completely changed the teaching ways. TV and PC’s offers convenience in clear understanding of concepts. Having them in learning room helps in illustrate concepts in the form of visual’s and clips that can be easily understood. Additionally, they not only improve understanding but staying in touch with, they let student to cope with modern era. For example, Agha Khan Medical college students scored higher in competitive exams as compare to their competitor college owing to contemporary methods of learning.

However, books still hold values due to its link with ancestor traditions. Books still hold values to keep focus and learn uninterruptly. When reading to book there is no other task appear like ads are displayed at regular interval in PC’s that interrupt student gaining of knowledge. For example, cycology test competition in Pakistan shown higher score for those who learned from books.

In conclusion, I believe that TV and computers are more recommended for teaching in schools. Although teaching through books have irreplaceable benefits such as keeping student focused and provide with children with non-tackled learning environment.
