More and more people think that social media has a negative effect on children, and I completely agree with this opinion for two reasons. However, others believe that using social media can help young people develop their skills and learn new things.
First of all, I have read many studies about this topic, and two important reasons make me agree with the first view. Young people who spend a lot of time on social media are often less focused on their studies. Instead of doing homework or reading books, they spend many hours watching videos or chatting with friends. Because of this, their school performance may become weaker than other students who use their time more wisely.
Moreover, chatting through applications can be extremely dangerous for children. They might communicate with strangers or older people who may have bad intentions. Many young people do not understand the risks of sharing personal information online. For example, they may share their photos, phone numbers, or location with people they do not know. This can create serious problems for them and their families.
On the other hand, some people believe that social media can be useful for learning. Young people can watch educational videos, follow teachers, and find helpful information for their school subjects. It can also help them communicate with classmates and share ideas.
In conclusion, although social media can provide some benefits for learning and communication, I believe parents should control their children’s use of these platforms in order to protect them from danger and help them focus more on their education.
