There are several reasons why people believe that broadcasting criminals vividly through multimedia sites has negative effects and this practice should be regulated. From my perspective, I oppose this view for two reasons: it is beneficial/advantageous for educating the public and encouraging the victims to report criminal acts.
By showing violations of crimes in the media, the public would become well aware of wrongful practices. When people are exposed to detailed reports on how crimes are committed and the consequences they leave on society, people can gain valuable insights that can help them recognize and avoid potential risks in their lives. For example, news reports and documentaries about crimes often include experts’ opinions and analyses about the characteristics of criminals, their tactics, and what victims can do to avoid provoking offenders. This exposure helps educate people about illegal acts and raises awareness within the community. As a result of this increased awareness, communities become more vigilant and sympathetic, which helps sufferers to feel safer in seeking justice.
Moreover, media coverage of crime plays a crucial role in encouraging victims/ sufferers/injured people to share information with authorities, as they often include information about the punishment criminals receive. When victims can see that justice is served, they will feel more confident and supported, which strengthens their belief in the law. For example, victims are often afraid of retaliation if they disclose the offenders, which is why many victims refuse to cooperate with the police. However, when they see other criminals receiving deserved punishments, they feel more secure in bringing their case to life. This increased trust in the legal system can lead to a decline in criminal activity, as more people are willing to report crimes, making it harder for offenders to escape punishment
In conclusion, illustrating criminals on TV and other media platforms serves an important role in society. It not only educates individuals about illegal activities but also enhances the confidence of victims to assert their rights. Therefore, rather than restricting this content, it should be made widely accessible to everyone.
