A group of individuals support subsidies for healthy food, while others argue that levying a tax on junk food is the most viable way. Although this essay will discuss both views, in my opinion, it is the opponent that, subsidizing fresh produce is a more beneficial rather than imposing a tax on unhealthy food.

On the one hand, some people think that if government impose a tax on unnutritious food, it will affects the supply and demand for junk food. In these days individuals tend to purchase food which is harmful for health because of affordable price. By levying a tax on unhealthy food price increases , making these types of food inconvenient for people. For instance, imposing trade tariffs for junk food such us chips, sweets, burgers is used by some countries to decrease imports and consumption.

On the others hand, I share the opinion of those who contend that subsidizing healthy food is viable way to makes these types of food more affordable for the community. In the market fresh food is expensive due to several expenses like organic fertilizers, natural pesticides, production, and so on. By subsidizing nutritious food these costs may reduces, it leads to decrease in a price and makes healthy food convenient for families. To illustrate this, subsidizing healthy food like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, meals, and so on has benefits both for producers and consumers. Consumers who have financial problem are be able to purchase healthy food thank to the subsidizing.

To sum up, although imposing a tax on junk food increases a price and makes these types of goods unaffordable, subsidizing healthy foods is a more practical option since it leads to a cheaper market price for goods, which has several benefits for people’s health.
