Task 2 floors a question whether the government should take responsibility for unprivileged people in our society such as jobless and homeless people.
I strongly believe that the disadvantaged section of our society like the unemployed and the people without homes, should be cared for by the government to ensure inclusiveness.
The government is an institution of a state, formed to serve its people. In the case of a democratic country, the government is elected by the votes of the people of that state. The election happens with the participation of all sections of people, which includes the unemployed and shelterless people. So, it is a responsibility of the state government to take care of the disadvantaged people. Today, the demographic dividend of a country which refers to the contributing capability of its people, governs the growth of overall economy of the state. That is why, the government should pay keen interest to the people who are capable of performing jobs but yet remain unemployed due to scarcity in their respective job markets. Leaving these people unattended might drag the country’s GDP down. The government should provide allowances to these jobless people in order to keep them afloat until they get any job and start contributing to society. In developed countries, the government not only provides money to the unemployed but also imparts various training programs to turn them into assets of the country.
On the hand, home facility is a basic right for a citizen. The government is obliged to arrange safe shelter for the people. In case of natural disaster like a tornado or massive flood, a huge number of people become homeless. The state always reserves a portion of its fiscal budget to ensure safe housing for these suffered people. In case of third world country, the government usually asks for donations or loans to ensure shelter in such calamities.
The government cannot take a country forward by leaving its disadvantaged population behind. So, ensuring residential facilities for homeless people and job security for jobless people should be key objectives of the government.
