Nowadays opinions are divided as to whether a child’s development mostly depends on television, friends and music, with some asserting that the family still has a major impact. Children’s lives can be influenced by things, namely screen, friends and music they listen to, as these components are main parts of their lives. However, I believe that the people they are living with are the main influential factors in their development.
A child has their own world and it is undeniable that, main parts of it are their friends, favourite music and TV Show. These factors may have some negative effects on child’s development as much as positive ones. Firstly, they are exposed to screen almost every single day and they spend one third of their spare time in front of TV. Even though these programmes are intended for children, there can be several details, namely violence, bullying, that may be detrimental for child’s mental development. Similarly, the song that they enjoy listening to may contain inappropriate content which is unable to set a good example for a child and this affects to their subconscious as well. Additionally, peers either at school or surroundings may deeply impact to child’s behavioral development as they tend to receive some attitudes as an example and copy them.
However, I consider that, family still plays an essential role in child’s development. Firstly, family is the first social environment a child is exposed to and becomes familiar with from birth. As they grow up, they observe and learn from familiy’s behaviour and attitudes, They regard them as a right manner which is actually opposite. They act in a wrong way due to seeing this manner at home as well. Consequently, their upbringing and development are established maintained by their families.
To sum up, child’s overall development mainly depends on a family factor as it is present from birth and observed by children as they grow up.
