I think that students should be required to learn a foreign language at school. I have two main reasons to support this point.
Firstly, learning a foreign language will be useful for the students’ future. For example, students could use them as an advantage when they grow up and when applying for a job. Many companies nowadays tend to have high expectations for language capacity, especially a global company. In these companies, workers will need to speak with international customers. Knowing the language allows them to communicate with each other without misunderstanding. Because these skills make the employees much more valuable, companies would want to hire people with these skills. Therefore, having the ability to control your own languages and having options makes more opportunities for a career.
Secondly, it creates more entertainment opportunities. These can include traveling to new places in the world, watching movies, reading books, and listening to music using the language they know. For example, students can watch their favourite shows in foreign languages without constantly reading the subtitles on the screen, and they can talk to local people easily when they go on vacation. Understanding other cultures is a big part that contributes heavily to these entertainments, and this leads to making more connections with people or the country. By learning the language, students can enjoy their life better because they get exposed to more recreation.
In conclusion, learning a foreign language is important in school because it allows them to build their career and their entertainment. It can be stressful and difficult, but it is practical for both work and daily life situations to have the ability to understand and talk in foreign languages.
