Whether sports involving violence such as boxing and martial arts should be removed from social media, television, and global competitions is a topic of controversy. From my perspective, I firmly believe that these sports should be prohibited from platforms because of potentially harmful implications on athletes and the promotion of aggressive behaviors of this form of entertainment.
The first reason why I advocate this view is the severe physical and psychological risks that violent sports involve. In fact, sports like boxing, wrestling, and mixed martial activities are inherently hazardous, as they require deliberate and forceful strikes on competitors’ bodies. Consequently, physical confrontations can lead to serious injuries, including fractures, concussions, and long-term damage brain. Take America as a typical example, according to recent surveys, the percentage of injured athletes in sports fields such as boxing and wrestling has dramatically increased, and the majority of them have to suffer from after-effects.
Another point supporting this view is that repeated exposure to violent sports may desensitize the mentality of viewers. For instance, they can normalize aggressive gestures because of violent sports’ effects. Moreover, children are extremely vulnerable objects, when they watch these sports on TV, they can mimic dangerous activities and gradually create aggressive behaviors. If students and adults watch excessively violent sports without control, they can become rebellious and have unregulated gestures. As a result, this may lead to adverse implication on family as well was society.
In conclusion, the prevalence and fame of violent sports are undeniable, however, people should be aware of their dangers. In addition, the government should take several measures to protect athletes and individuals from the harmful effects of violent sports.
