Some people think that keeping wild animals in zoos is unethical. Others opine that it might be reasonable in some cases. There are thousands of zoos all around the world and people’s opinions may vary depending on place of birth and experiences they had.
People that think that wild animals shouldn’t be kept in zoos are right in some cases. For instance, we have a zoo in Almaty that doesn’t take proper care of some animals, especially for exotic ones that aren’t familiar with the climate and can’t adapt. Locals that have seen the conditions that animals are forced to be in were furious and were complaining about animal abuse. Cases like these make people dislike and even hate the idea of zoos.
Though there is a differing perspective. The second opinion is given by people who have different experiences. Some examples show that zoos can be safe and comfortable for wild animals, preserving their population. In China, for instance, it helped many endangered species, like pandas, red pandas, etc. Now some of them are not in danger of extinction . There are also different kinds of zoos. In some countries of Africa people can ride around safaris in cages, in the USA, Japan and Kazakhstan there are National Parks like Yellowstone and Katon-Karagay. In National Parks the nature is almost untouched and people can still experience it in its purest form.
Although it differs from one place to another, zoos can be ethical and helpful for both people and wild animals. The world would be much less whimsical without them.
