Deciding whether joining a nursery school would benefit young children has been a topic of discussion since decades. Some people believe that going to nursery school has its own set of advantages whereas some people prefer that young children must stay with their families. I will be providing my views on both these statements.
There are a lot of benefits when it comes to sending a young child to nursery school. Firstly, it provides a child with an opportunity to mingle with the other classmates belonging to the same age group. This creates a sense of social awareness amongst the children at a very young age. On the other hand, interacting with the kids improves their communication skills and make them feel confident. Secondly, the kids would be keen on learning new things when taught in a group rather than having to learn them alone. Additionally, nursery school prepares a child for the primary school by introducing them to the alphabets, phonics, and numbers. Considering the numerous advantages, parents strongly believe that the nursery school learning will help in keeping their child a step ahead from those who never went to nursery school.
Opposed to this, some people prefer the children to stay with their families instead of going to nursery school. Letting young children stay with the families allows the parents to teach their kids in a flexible way and spend some quality time with them. It is not possible for a teacher to monitor every student in the nursery school but the families can pay utmost attention to their behaviour and values. Also, it is difficult to ensure that the children will learn all the good things while in the nursery school. The reason being that kids would interact with many different students and learn some bad things as well. This can be avoided if the kid stays with the family.
In conclusion, nursery schools can help improve the cognitive ability of children at a very early stage but these schools can be expensive at times. Also, the children would lose the quality time with their family. It is up to the parents to decide whether or not to send their children to nursery school based on their preferences.
