People have different perspective concerning the impact of playing electronic and computer games on teens. While it is sometimes thought that playing these games can learn useful skills, I personally believe that playing video games consumes time without adding value.
On the one hand, those who claim that young adults can learn beneficial skills by video games have some reasons. Firstly, they can learn critical thinking and problem solving. This owing to the fact that there are many games require players to solve complex puzzle, make quick decisions, and think strategically; thus, might make teenagers know how to deal with any difficult situations if they expose to it. Secondly, it is also assumed that assist youth to acquire social connection due to the fact that online multiplayer games which are allow to connect with other worldwide and give an opportunity to make friendships; hence, this lead to make teens obtain more knowledge about other cultures.
On the other hand, I side with those who suppose gaming is unproductive. To begin with, playing video games have a negative impact on youth’s health; for instance, if teenagers spend a lot of their time in games, this will cause some issues on their eyes as well as having a bad posture. In contrast, if one does not fritter away their time, they will be able to utilize this time in a good manner such as going to the gym. Furthermore, it reduced academic focus because of spending many times playing video games instead of studying or doing something useful such as physical activity. Hence, this will lead to get quite low grades.
In conclusion, although some people believe that teens can learn useful skills from playing video games such as critical thinking, I am of the opinion that it is a misuse their time, as it reduces academic focus and have negative impact on health.
