In this day and age, the government has received an abundant source of national funds from taxes to develop the country. However, a group of people hold a firm belief that it is more beneficial for them to keep all their earnings without paying taxes, and I totally disagree with this statement.
First, all citizens need to pay tax to the states as they are the people who directly receive the welfare coming from their paid money. It is undeniable that tax is the main source of funds for public services, which play an essential role in people’s lives. Therefore, paying taxes is the way for people to receive better quality public services, and also a future investment for younger generations. Consequently, the living standards of the nation will definitely increase. For example, Sweden, a well-known nation for the high quality of public services, has a considerably high amount of tax per citizen. However, the people in this country receive a desirable quality of life as the school tuition and the hospital fees are fully covered by the government.
Second, the upkeep and enhancement of public infrastructure, such as highways, bridges, and public transit networks, is another essential role of taxes. These infrastructure projects guarantee that residents have access to jobs and necessary services in addition to facilitating trade and economic growth by facilitating the flow of people and goods. In the absence of taxes, private organizations would be in charge of maintaining and enhancing infrastructure, and they might put profit ahead of the general benefit.
In conclusion, even though it may be alluring to keep all of one’s earnings, I vehemently disagree with this position since it is critical to acknowledge the vital role that taxes play.
