The notion that young individuals should be required to pursue full-time education until they are at least 18 years old has sparked intense debate. In my opinion, I partially agree with this statement, and I will elucidate my perspective in the following paragraphs.
On one hand, I concur with the statement. One of the primary reasons is that education enables individuals to acquire essential life skills, which are vital for their future success. For instance, during their educational tenure, they learn fundamental skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. Moreover, they develop their communication and interpersonal skills, rendering them more productive and contributing members of society. As a consequence, the literacy rate of the nation is elevated, and subsequently, the entire society benefits.
On the other hand, I disagree with the statement to some extent. A significant proportion of children hail from impoverished families, and thus, they lack the financial resources to pursue education. Additionally, children with disabilities or chronic diseases, such as cancer, may not be able to complete their education by the age of 18. For example, in India, a substantial percentage of children suffering from cancer are unable to complete their education within the stipulated timeframe. Therefore, it is essential for authorities to provide alternative arrangements, such as online classes, to cater to the needs of these children.
In conclusion, while I acknowledge the importance of education, it is crucial to consider the diverse circumstances of children and provide suitable alternatives to ensure that every individual has an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills, regardless of their background or abilities.
