Some people believe money should be spent searching for new life on other planets. Others consider this a waste of money; instead, it should be used to solve numerous issues on Earth.
On the one hand, looking for and discovering life on different planets can be our backup plan and place to live when Earth is extinct because of the explosion of the sun and outside occurrences that are not controllable. For instance, there are a trillion and uncountable numbers of extinction and explosion of stars in space every second. Even if modern technologies are well enough to sense, detect, and prevent some of them, it may lose some of them, and some might destroy our Earth. So, when the time comes when a fraction of different planets destroy Earth, we should have a place to run away from it and dwell. Spending the government’s money on an operation to search for life on other planets can be helpful, as shown in the abovementioned example.
On the other hand, although previous incidents could happen, various problems threaten our survival. These include issues from famine and incurable disease to deforestation, natural habitat loss, and climate change. For example, according to statistics, merely reducing coal usage and planting several wind turbines to generate energy can significantly impact our climate and background.
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, instead of preventing and being afraid of mere possibility, governments ought to use the money to solve real-life problems that people are suffering from right now.
