In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world, the opportunities for remote employment have been growing rapidly. While some individuals are of the opinion that online work is more suited to the demands of contemporary life, others emphasize the irreplaceable role of office-based employment. However, although I firmly believe that both in-person and remote work offer distinct positives, I contend that a hybrid work model presents a more optimal solution in mentioned context.
Firstly, as educational institutions move away from old-fashioned rote learning, workplaces are increasingly adopting best practices from modern companies like Procter & Gamble or Coca-Cola, which prioritize the mental health and productivity of their employees in their management strategies. As a result, well-organized monitoring systems created by various entities control the whole workflow, creating more suitable and accessible labor conditions for the expanded number of workers. The mentioned process itself, can help to reduce the risk of the brain drain and the loss of skilled labor.
Secondly, with the possibilities of remote work, traffic jams and other time-consuming activities are more likely to be avoided. As a result, not only psychological resilience but also physical well-being should be considered vitally important factors for the stability and emotional balance of employees. For instance, in capital cities, people may waste anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes just to reach their workplaces, while this valuable time could be better used for more productive and positive activities.
Admittedly, it is also true that having team members in one physical location makes them more accessible and reachable whenever the manager desires. However, instead of enhancing staff productivity, this style of working may lead to lower job satisfaction.
In conclusion, as both fully remote and office-based work have their feasible positives and negatives, to avoid side effects such as uncontrolled task management or excessive oversight, company leaders should focus on goal-oriented strategies and well-defined KPI systems. By implementing the aforementioned approach, a higher chance of obtaining beneficial consequences is likely to be obtained.
