It is argued that the majority of crime nowadays stems from financial difficulties and a lack of opportunities, while others believe that underlying psychological issues play a significant role in causing criminal behavior. I believe that these negative factors can lead individuals to engage in criminal activities. In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives along with my own opinion.
First and foremost, living in poverty can create a sense of unmet desires, which may drive individuals to resort to illegal activities. Additionally, some people may aspire to maintain high social status without putting in the necessary effort, leading them to engage in criminal behaviors. For instance, individuals wanting to accumulate wealth quickly may resort to stealing money or robbing a bank. Consequently, these offenders may harm or even take the lives of others to acquire their possessions.
On the other hand, some crimes are attributed to individuals with underlying mental health issues. Research conducted on prisoners has shown that many of them have suffered significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences that have impacted their mental well-being. For example, experiences of violence in family or school settings can have long-lasting effects. Therefore, such individuals require rehabilitation and support from the government to address their issues and have an opportunity to rectify their mistakes.
In conclusion, criminal behavior often arises from ambition, greed, and poor circumstances. It is crucial for both the government and society to address any unlawful behaviors firmly and take appropriate measures to prevent and address criminal activities.
