Nowadays, with the help of advanced technologies some universities have started their online courses on the Internet, enabling many international students to study from a distance. While some people argue that this is a negative development according to some possible consequences, I consider that online education offers a number of positive aspects.
The most commonly discussed negative side of teaching some university subjects online is connected with the difficulty of those subjects. In more detail, some particle subjects need to be taught in auditory to make sure that all students have understood the topic of the lesson in case they might make mistakes in real life situations. Medicine and chemistry can be a good example of these subjects. It is because both of these subjects require a perfect guidance and physical interaction of a teacher otherwise students might fail to advance the subject fully, resulting in serious problems even killing a patient during the surgery.
On the other hand, online education offers a number of opportunities to both individuals and governments. In other words, if governments support web-based education, they might benefit economically by avoiding building higher education sectors. Especially, during the periods of pandemic or political conflicts, this idea can be a great solution to continue the educational process. Secondly, individuals possibly take advantage of this development since they would not have to leave their country to enter the university any longer. Furthermore, technically the fees for university expenses might be lower than traditional education costs for a few times. Oxford and Cambridge universities are at the top of the list of those universities with online courses. Each year they teach thousands of international students on their online programs giving them quality education and international diploma.
In conclusion, while some people claim new types of university education as a negative development, thinking about only its drawbacks, I consider that this trend creates many opportunities for the world and improves the current level of higher education.
