Many people believe that more and more young people have been using social networking sites as an ideal replacement for conventional socialization. In this essay, I will share my opinion about the cause of this phenomenon and the actions to help them build more communication skills in real life.
The first and foremost reason why many young adults find it irresistible to use and dive into some social networking sites is because these platforms are incredibly easy to join. Creating an account on some of the most popular platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, does not take more than a minute. Users can find, add friends, converse with, and start relationships with anyone they want, even strangers. Furthermore, this ease of access could exacerbate a more serious issue: the growing number of people who see socializing on virtual platforms as an optimal way to escape real communication. When every step of a relationship could be conducted on social networking sites, there would be nothing to deter young people from seeking and forming relationships on them, even if they are fake or potentially scams.
Finding an absolute solution to this phenomenon seems challenging since it has become an increasingly significant part of life. However, young people should be encouraged to return to real communication by participating in practical activities, such as camping, outdoor games, and teamwork activities. Offline meetings could be effective for teenagers because during these events, they are able to meet, interact with one another, and simultaneously learn social skills.
In conclusion, socializing online should be considered a means of communication, not something to boycott. It would be much better for teenagers to learn to balance relationships on virtual platforms and in real life simultaneously.
