Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 4+: t is becoming increasingly popular to have a year off between finishing school and going to university. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is common belief that the gap year off between finishing school and going to university has become a controversial topic in society nowadays. However, there is a more persuasive argument that the benefits of one gap year have a positive effect on students. I believe that almost all pupils really like this duration.

On the other hand, the advantage of this gap year is that pupils have more time to do something they like and spend more relaxing time for themselves after the pressure of the important exam of their life in high school. Besides that, in this period, students have a trend to work part-time to earn money. Due to the fact that in three years of high school, students just focused on studying; they did not have time to do activities such as sports, drawings, singing, etc. These activities help young generations gain more experience in their lives and enhance their quality of life. Twelve months of relaxing and enjoying any moments it brings makes pupils feel more comfortable without the pressure. Furthermore, they can work to gain enough money to pay for the tuition fee next year when they come back to the university. For example, many mini-supermaket workers in the accountant profession are just pupils who work to have a salary to pay for living costs.

Nevertheless, the gap year has some disadvantages for students when they are unacquainted with a lack of studying. To explain, when people stop for time to do other things, suddenly their positive self-esteem declines, and after one year they go back to studying, which does not make them feel deep in learning. For example, some pupils in Vietnam, after a gap year, instead of continuing to study in university, decided to stop their learning journey and go on working.

To conclude, while there are some advantages for one gap year to do useful activities, It is evident that the best way is to continue studying in university school to get the graduation right.
