It is said that parents should be responsible for punishment if children disobey the rule. While there are strong arguments for parents, because they have effects most on the children, I believe that children also should be punished for some reasons.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why parents should get punishment when their children break the law. Parents play important role models for their offspring in the early days of their kids’ lives . For example, if parents are criminals, who steal money or poverty, their children would suppose these actions as moral and acceptable , consequently they will commit the same crime in the near future. Therefore, parents getting punishment might be considered as behavior modification for young children, decreasing juvenile delinquency rates in the society.
However, children should realize outcomes and take responsibility for their unlawful activities. When children break the law, they should have to face immediate consequences, especially discipline and scold, to deeply understand the seriousness of illegal actions. This can help them think carefully before deciding to disobey the rule again, reducing the rates of recommitment in the near future. Furthermore, punishment can teach them accountability for their behaviors. This can highly be achieved by suffering real outcomes and the strict penalty; as a result, they are more likely to become more responsible for their actions.
