It is often claimed that parents should be responsible for punishment if children disobey the rule. While some people are opposed, I personally support this perspective because they may affect children’s behavior and their future actions.
On the one hand, it is clear why some people think children learn how to take responsibility for their own actions because it helps them to overcome some obstacles and be ready for the future. As a result of past experiences of how to solve problems and face punishment, if they encounter penalties in the future, it will be easy for them to deal with it. Moreover, punishment can teach them accountability for their behavior, and after that, they think about twice before deciding to break a law again. For example, they can get the amount of money to pay by just crossing line while playing phones, or the lights are still red.
On the other hand, I believe that parents should also feel responsibility for their children’s actions, because in the end, it really comes down to parents’ behavior and how they raise their children. Parents play a key role in their offspring in the early days of their kid’s life. For instance, if parents are criminals who steal money or poverty, their children are likely to do the same thing and commit the same crime in the near future. As a result, after parents take punishment, they correct themselves and their role of being parent, and it might also affect the children activities.
In conclusion, although there is a strong idea of children aslo should be accountable for their illicit actions, I am convinced that parents should get punishment in some ways if their children break the law.
