Band 8+: Task 2: Throughout history, people have dreamed of living in a perfect society but nobody has agreed on what an ideal society would look like. What do you think is the most important element needed to make a society perfect? How can the ideal society be achieved?

Visions of a utopia have gained traction and prompted discourse among scientists, politicians, and philosophers alike. In my opinion, a perfect society is inherently unattainable; however, societies can strive toward progress *based on three pillars: equity, freedom, and happiness.*

To begin with, a fair society must **uphold equity for all**. This equity **translates into** a shared distribution of opportunities and resources, rather than concentrating wealth into the hands of a privileged few. *Critics may point out that* absolute economic socialism may be impractical in modern society. *While that is true*, ensuring that citizens have **universal access to fundamental services** such as education and healthcare is feasible, exemplified by social welfare systems in Scandinavian countries. By implementing government policies such as **progressive taxation and free schooling**, a sense of empathy is instilled in citizens, making sure that no one is left behind.

**Equally important is freedom**, which emphasizes **individuals’ autonomy** to participate in political rights and personal interests. To elaborate, when people are encouraged to voice their opinions, pursue their passions, and express themselves without fear of discrimination, they feel heard and empowered, **thus fostering inclusivity for all**. *This principle warrants combined efforts from progressive policies and community open-mindedness.* For example, governments could create campaigns that **increase the representation of marginalized groups**, such as people with disabilities, while community members could take those initiatives into action by assisting disabled members with daily tasks.

Lastly, happiness serves as the **ultimate goal** of a perfect society. **It goes without saying that** individual satisfaction contributes to family fulfillment, and happy families equate to happy societies. *Beyond mere economic success*, happiness also arises from physical and mental well-being, as well as a sense of identity and belonging. Modern societies can strive toward this goal by prioritizing healthcare, work-life balance, and sustainability. **More specifically, it is high time that governments across the globe come together and tackle complex shared issues such as climate change.** By protecting natural spaces, happiness is not only a short-term goal but also a commitment to ensure happiness for future generations.

*In conclusion*, **an absolute utopia might be unfeasible**, but we can strive toward the shared goals of ensuring equity, freedom, and happiness for all. **Only through** collective endeavor from radical systematic reforms and community engagement **will this vision be gradually realized.**

large companies should pay higher salaries to CEOs and executives compared to the other workers. To what extend do you agree or disagree ?

There is a view that CEOs and executives in large companies should be paid significantly more than ordinary workers. I completely disagree with this idea, as it leads to inequality, undermines employee motivation, and does not fairly reflect contributions to company success. One reason why excessively high executive pay is unjustified is that it creates […]

It is argued that governments are responsible for free higher education for some underprivileged individuals. While this may work to a certain extent, I believe that governments should not be entirely free for every student. On the one hand, it is understandable why higher education should be free for every individual. Firstly, many underprivileged would […]

Some people believe learning foreign language from the children primary school is essential. To what extent do you agree

It is often argued that foreign languages should be a compulsory part of the primary school curriculum. I strongly agree, chiefly because young children acquire languages with remarkable ease and because early bilingualism opens doors that often remain closed to monolingual adults. Above all, the primary years are when children are most receptive to new […]
