The chart illustrates the population growth from 1992 to 2016of Chattogram, Barishal and Dhaka which are the three major cities in Bangladesh. Overall, all the three cities, the population growth increased rapidly from 2013 to 2016. Whereas, the other years, there was several rises and falls in the population growth. In the year 2004, in these cities the population growth rate declined.
In the beginning year, the population in Dhaka and Barishal were at the same level, on the other hand population growth of Chittagong is slightly higher. In the next three years, number of population growth decreased for Dhaka and Chittagong from 20 thousand to 16 thousand and 30 thousand to 20 thousand respectively whereas it increased for Barishal cities from nearly 20 thousands to 25 thousands. Though the population growth rate of Dhaka and Chittagong in 1995 was less than Barishal, in next 6 years from 1995 to 2001, the scenario was just opposite. In the year 2001, Barishal had a lower growth rate than other two cities and Chattogram had the maximum growth rate which was nearly 60 thousand.
In the year 2004, all these city population rate decreased significantly and the lowest growth rate nearly around 20 thousand observed for Chattogram. However, in the last three years population growth crossed 100 thousands from 2013 to 2016 the growth rate nearly doubled for Dhaka and Chattogram whereas the population rate was slightly increased in Barishal city.
