As the world is moving at an ever-increasing pace, travelling expenditure is no longer prohibitively expensive, leading to the rise in tourism worldwide, posing both challenges and opportunities to local residents and travellers.
Affordable tours have many merits. Firstly, it creates accessibility for less well-off individuals to travel. Budget-friendly tourism may entice a wider range of customers, hence boosting profit for travel agencies, developing the travel industry. Furthermore, if more people get to know other countries’ culture, they may gain more insights about those countries, erasing negative misunderstandings . Secondly, the growth in tourism may also create more job opportunities for the natives. When the manpower of a country is mostly employed, the socioeconomic of that country would also be fostered, increasing the state’s budget.
Having said that, there are still demerits that should not be outlooked. The more tourists visit, the more damaged the sites would be. One of the evidences is that some unaware visitors intentionally dump waste at tourism destinations, or destroy the place for joy. Moreover, escalating tourism would be a culprit of pollution. There is a large amount of emission fumes released during the trips, posing adverse to the air quality. In the long run, the sites would be destructively polluted, unless restoring measures are taken.

On the one hand, it could satisfy the thirst for adventure of low income travellers and creating jobs for local people, however, the destructive consequences it brings to nature and the sites themself should be considered under scrutiny.
