It is believed that the capital punishment is an effective method to control and decline the number of heavy crimes. I tend to agree that the death penalty scares people from committing crimes or re-offending; moreover, it saves money spending on prisoners. This essay will support this view with arguments in the following paragraphs.
The first reason is that the capital punishment sends a message to offenders and would-be criminals. The message said, “Unless you commit a serious crime, you will be punished with death”. Furthermore, this fear can be a good alternative, when soft options don’t work. For example, according to the BBC, the crime rate in China, which has the death penalty, is lower than in other countries without it.
Another reason is the saving budget spending on prisons. The fact is that murders, killers, and other inmates live in the comfortable environment at the taxpayers’ expense, while the victims are harmed by them suffer from mental or physical pain. To illustrate, according to research conducted by the UN, prisoners are allowed to have amenities such as the TV, libraries, sport facilities, and so on.
To sum up, the best strategy to manage and decrease major offences is the capital punishment. It is proven that prison makes inmates regret about their actions; in this way, it is pivotal to sent criminal offenders to the death penalty.
