Because of tourism, the use of English as a language has increased in the world. This has led to an increased concern amongst people that with time, English will be the only language to be spoken across the globe. Having only one language in the world benefits in the ease of communication but it comes at a cost of losing the native languages that reflect the bright culture of people.
Communication is considered to be the biggest barrier in understanding people. With only one language in the world, most of the communication barriers can be destroyed. Talking with each other would become very easy with people specially at work places and while travelling to different countries or even within a country as many countries have numerous languages spoken across different regions. Speaking a common language also help making new friends as it creates a sense of trust.
With all the advantages, comes the disadvantages. Having only one language will result in the loss of people’s native languages. These languages have been associated with people from years and reflects an entire culture. This would result in the loss of huge diversity we have across the world and will only be restricted to skin and hair colors.
To summarize, speaking a common language might result in advantages such as breaking or reducing a communication issue at different parts of our lives, but this may also bring disadvantages as bad as a loss of cultural identity. So speaking one language is good till it is used for the purpose of easiness of communication, but one should never forget his/her roots and should also continue speaking their native language with family.
