In recent years, the amount of imports and exports of products between countries has increased to great extent. Many people opine that it has negative effect on native industries. However, I believe that it fosters economic development of both countries as a whole.
On the one hand, cross border products flow have some negative impacts on home grown industry. To begin with, due to failure of implementation of regulations by government, economically developed countries are exporting cheap products to underdeveloped nations, which is discouraging local Manufacturers. For example, Highly developed countries like China and India are controlling the electrical and electronics market is Southeast Asia by providing products at a very cheap rate because they are producing products in huge number which in fact reduces their production cost. Consequently, local industries are failing to compete with the decreasing price. Furthermore, traditional products which holds the cultural values of a nation are being replaced by modern and trendy western products due to ease of cross border business relation. Moreover, people can even purchase goods over the internet internationally as a result of online ecommerce. Whereas, local products are not getting recognized because of they lack online presence. Therefore, local manufactures are getting discouraged.
On the other hand, increasing International business has many benefits. First of all, it is helping both countries develop economically. They can exchange goods which they cannot produce by themselves. Secondly, new and innovative products are being introduced to different countries that are making life more convenient which were not available to them locally. Finally, due to ease of cross border relation, local industries are also getting recognition by international buyers which are helping creating new industries in developing countries. Overall, they are contributing to economic growth of the country.
In conclusion, although there are some negative consequences of cross border products movement , I would argue that it benefits both countries and contribute significantly in economic development.
