There comes a notion that government investment in entertainment areas is a waste of money. Instead, the government should spend money on public services. I completely agree with this statement. This essay will provide some reasons and examples to support my point of view.
Admittedly, art plays a vital role in social life. First, by performing art through entertainment activities such as music, art, theater helps people enrich their spirituality, thereby increasing productivity. As a result, it partly contributes to building a well-being society, and developing national economics. Secondly, art has greatly contributed to our culture growth, which betters the understanding of our heritage and fills the gaps between different generations, thereby boosting international integration.
however, I believe that government should definitely allocate a large part of its budget to public services. This is because basic services like health care systems, schools, infrastructure facilities deciding the quality of life. Public services satisfy the primary needs of the society and thus needs proper funding, while funding arts take away money from essential infrastructure facilities. For example, any country can live without music concerts, but lack of medicine may create significant problems. Therefore, funding public services should be considered at the first place.
In conclusion, the above-mentioned facts have created a dilemma when people evaluate the impact of this issue, and it is still a controversial issue. As far as I am concerned, I put more highlights on allocating budget in public services than entertainment areas. People should have more consideration for this problem.
