Nowadays, misinformation is becoming more popular. In this essay I will discuss the reasons behind this trend and solutions to promote reliable information.
Misinformation is caused by two main reasons. Firstly, scammers often take advantage of public trust to achieve financial gains. For example, Ms grand named Thuy Tien advertised inaccurate information about Kera candy in 2025. According to her Kera was organic and people can take one tablet a day to replace vegetables, but in fact, it has been verified that fibre in one single Kera candy is extremely low. Even consuming an entire box only provides around one-sixth fiber of a banana, it’s worse that Kera candy also contains substances that may negatively affect consumer’s digestive health. Secondly, thanks to the rise of technology, it is easy for offenders to spread fake news on social media such as Facebook, Instagram. This type of punishment acts as a deterrence measure to the act of sharing fake news, which is capable of disseminating trending topics across the globe with just one click. This phenomenon not only causes public confusion but also affects individuals and organisations relevant with this wrong information.
There are several solutions to solve misinformation. First and foremost, the most effective measure is to raise public awareness of this issue through campaigns and educational programs in school. To be more specific, people, especially children, should update news on trustworthy pages of government such as datri.org. In addition, governments should impose strict punishments to people who spread wrong information on social media. For instance, if individuals who post fake news on social networking platforms such as Facebook, Tik Tok should be fined thirty million Viet Nam Dong for the first time and sentenced to prison for six months for the second offence.
