Science has significantly influenced the existence of man in the last Century. Although this may come with a few drawbacks, I agree that the most important aim of science is to improve the lives of people.
Several reasons oppose the role of science in improving lives – First, science and its application come at a cost that may not be affordable to all and can deplete a reasonable amount of financial resources for its funding; this cost would have been used for other useful ventures.
Secondly, the introduction of science into communication has greatly reduced human contact and communication. This is because people can now choose a convenient way of reaching out virtually instead of face-to-face communication, reducing bonding periods. Lastly, the application of science of workforce has taken a lead out of the mouths of many leading powers’ economic states and unemployment and low economic status.
The application of science in the different sectors concerned with human lives has brought great relief to man. One of such sectors is the healthcare system. For example, a man who is said to have had a cardiac arrest can now access to emergency health service via a call to helpline, which is science enabled. This emergency teams expected to arrive in minutes will immediately use a defibrillator to restore the normal rhythm of the heart and stop the cardiac arrest. This does not only improve his chance at survival but saves his life.
In conclusion, I agree that important aim of science has been to improve people’s lives.
