Band 6+: The most important aim of science should be to improve people's lives

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Science is a integral part of our lives because without science, we can not develop medicines, technological devices, transportation, and so on. While science has a vital place in daily life, people are divided into two groups, one of which supports the idea that the most important aim of science should be to improve people’s lives, while the others oppose that. In my opinion, the former one is more logical.

First of all, people advocate that science’s first aim should be to improve people’s lives because they evaluate science as a daily life tool and they have a right point in terms of developments which come with science. Thanks to scientific developments, we have a better health system, more quality educational tools, easier transformation, and improved technology. If we consider these advantageous aspects of science, we can claim that science serves a better life quality.

Additionally, we have brighter futures due to the scientific research about global issues. These research’s subjects range from climate change to sustainable resources. These studies solve our problems or show the efficient ways to reduce the effects of problems. Therefore, science is significant for continuing to explore or invent new things which help us in our daily lives.

In contrast, there are some opponents who argue that science should be a tool for understanding our place in the cosmos. From this view, science doesn’t provide easiest ways for daily life but we can improve our minds in some aspects. The reason for that is if we can care about relation between the World and people via science, we can improve our capability of thinking. They seem reasonabe in this regard, however they don’t bear the other side of the coin in mind because our first need is about daily life not understanding our place in the World.

In conclusion, while some people advocate science as a daily life tool, there are some other people who oppose this idea and support to use science for understanding our place in the World. In my opinion, science’s first target should focus on daily life because we need new inventions which get easy our lives.
