Many scientific innovations have revolutionized our lives in multiple ways. On the other hand, there have been some scientific developments proven to be harmful to human beings. This essay argues that while science does prove to be helpful in many ways, it is never known when and how it can be used in a negative manner.
One may believe that science prioritizes our safety and well-being by upgrading our lifestyles through inventions in many fields including medicine, education, telecommunication, and many more. For example, the creation of vaccines for diseases like the coronavirus helped many people overcome the illness quickly or without any serious complications from the illness.
Then again, there have been incidents where people have been harmed due to a scientific innovation that were once created and used for a helpful cause; for example, the dynamite, which was created to assist in mining and later became to be a dangerous invention by being used as a weapon. We can also take the example of many drugs that were invented or discovered to save lives but later used for the total opposite reason as well, for example, many drugs can cause an allergy reaction in a person, thus if such a drug given purposefully to such a person is dangerous and also life-threatening depending on the dose given.
In conclusion, science does make one’s life better and it is safe to say that we may not have been this advanced and evolved if not for science, among many other factors. Regardless of that, sometimes, it is not known, even to the scientists themselves, about how their innovations and discoveries will break through; this also depends on how we, as humans, utilize those innovations in our lives.
