Fast food consumption is becoming more popular each year and it is proven to have a negative impact on our health. However, people continue consuming that kind of food. What can explain such behavior and how we can prevent it will be discussed here.
Firstly, as we can see in the name, it is literally “fast” food. It is prepared in a short time frame, so it saves time for people in a hurry. Also, in most cafes, fast food is usually meant to be taken away; it is packed in disposable dishes, which is very convenient. Second, it has a pretty good taste and a low price in comparison with healthy food. As a result, I assume this taste/price ratio seems very attractive to people and makes consumers return again and again. One of the main things that contribute a lot to this tendency is the widespread distribution of fast-food cafes; you can find them almost on every corner, which makes them more accessible. This is due to their high demand in the food-production area.
A comprehensive approach should be used to reduce the level of fast food consumption and raise the popularity of healthy food. On one hand, making natural food affordable would bring positive changes. On the other hand, some limitations on fast food production could be implemented. As an alternative, promoting “healthy” fast food will work for those who love the taste; the traditional ingredients can be replaced with natural ones, and cooking methods can be adapted to be less health-affecting. Also, informing people about the consequences of consuming fast food would be good.
Concluding all of this, it would be better if we adopt a systematic approach to gradually get rid of junk food and popularize a healthy eating style.
