Technology has created several opportunities to avoid in-person interactions, including burocracy processes and food delivery. Of course the main advantage of technology involves tasks becomming convenient, however, it is vital to find a balance and take care of us, if not we can develop serious mental health problems caused by limiting our social interactions.
The cellphones are the most used and convenient kind of devices all around the world, nowdays we can get from them plenty of documents needed for a diverse set of purposes or just ordering food without talking at all. For example, I recently applied for a Japanese student permit, and I did not attend any office or talked to anyone face-to-face, only needing to attend the final day at the office to print the permit in my passport.
Although technology provides diverse options to simplify our lifes, it restricts us from developing our soft-skills, getting involved with others, and finally developing several mental health issues. One of the main problems the modern society face is depression caused by the isolation of the individuals. For instance a recent study in USA by the university of colorado showed that more than 60% of persons that reduced their face-to-face interactions just below 2 hours per week, have 55% more probability of developing depression compared to those spending above 10 hrs.
In conclusion, using technology is convenient and in general a good idea, but we must take care of keeping our real world interactions healthy to enjoy a good life.
