There is an opinion that only the government can deal with a widespread issue of lack of accommodation, which is highly spread among major cities and visibly affects society. In my opinion, this is a well-justified view for several key reasons.
One of these reasons is prioritised public housing. The main question is to define whether it is truly a housing crisis or a prioritized crisis by what I mean a limited number of problems the government chooses to solve firstly. There are countries that have built accessible houses and apartments, in spite of having their economy ruined after the First World War. As a result of the government’s decision to concentrate their attention on the individuals’ needs, people not only have a huge amount of affordable options, but also more features than some had never expected. For instance, once Vienna encountered a housing crisis after the First World War, within the next 15 years there were 64 000 homes constructed with nurseries, clinics, libraries, and swimming pools right inside buildings. A significant percentage of people don’t have access to such facilities, which makes daily life less convenient for both current citizens and future generations.”
Another important reason is an increased demand for housing. Rapidly growing population, due to the rural-to-urban migration to big cities, has influenced residents’ quality of life; to be more precise, it has become worse. Where people live really affects the kind of services they have. People have to either sacrifice their comfort, or take a mortgage. Pertinent cases in points are the US downtowns like New York or San Francisco,where renting a flat costs enormously expensive, and living further out from the city centre is not a viable option either, because you somehow need to go to work there. This problem will become manageable only if the government of the US improves the transport system.
In conclusion, I completely agree with the idea that in the modern world humans really may face difficulties with finding homes, and only the government has the possibility to change it.
