This statement may be the case for many valid reasons. Communication means a lot nowadays and plays a big role in choosing profession, especially professions that require it on the everyday basis. Particularly, having communication skills, which are soft skills, is even more respected these days than hard skills, that consists being an expert in a specific field.
The first reason that should be mentioned is that communication skills are just as important as technical skills. In fact, teacher profession is a clear example. The teacher, who not only have the best knowledge of their subject but also respects their students and communicates is more appreciated among pupils, than the strict and quiet one. Additionally, communication skills give teachers an opportunity to provide students with the knowledge in the best way possible. Obviously, it is much easier to absorb information with a person who creates a contact by choosing the right words to teach.
The second reason is that indeed, our world now is full of accessible information and IT technologies, therefore anybody who is not an expert in a particular niche can get a job by simply having good communication skills. It has a positive impact on employment, as it creates more space in a workplace in general, without mastering hard skills to be paid for. In comparison with the 20th century, when internet sources were almost unreal to reach out for and, as a result, less chances to be fully provided with information needed to get a job, right now everything is in a free access, therefore professionalism is not that much required anymore. Significant changes in the world made communication a key to almost any job, and this is why it’s even more easy, then, for example, 30 years ago.
To conclude the reasons mentioned above, communication is reasonably much more required and appreciated than proficiency in employment field nowadays. Moreover, it made a positive impact on appliance to work by making this process easier and more accessible.
