The television has been evoluting throughout all time from invention to present, so now we can see the plethora of TV channels. Some people think excessive wide range of options of TV channels leads to poorer production, whilst others and I believe television should covers all viewers’ preferences.
On the one hand, unfortunatly, in conditions of the modern world’s competition, some media companies may focus on quantity of TV channels than quality because of it is more profitable. As more number of channels a company produces as more it can covers audience, which in consequence means more earnings, and in many cases a low-quality content for viewers. The conveyer approach like that catches breath of producers, journalists, broadcasters and content makers, because a companies focus on only cost-efficient topics, shows and programms.
On the other hand, current number of TV channels stimulates a variety and healthy rivalry between TV media companies. Nowadays, each individual is easily able to find whatever he wants to watch, moreover, he can chooses between competitors in that niche. For instance, while some sport channels specialtes in martial arts, others can prefer more athletic sports like swimming. The proper competition prevents appeareance of monopolia in the field, so the viewers have different informational resources if specific controvertial event happens. As example, if establishment of new law led to debates in the society, people who watch different news channels would have more justified opinion about situation.
In conclution, although, today’s TV media industy has issues with consumer production, I argue that huge choice options does more benefit than harm.
