Band 6+: Today many people do not know their neighbours in large cities. What problems does this cause? What can be done about this.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent days it is always considered that today many people do not know their neighbors in large cities. This essay will examine what issues this causes and what solutions can be taken for this situation.

One of the main problems is social isolation. If you avoid simple handshaking or even embarrassed to say “hello” it will lead to total distancing from you as a person. For example, if you need help, but you are home alone, then the best way is to call your neighbors, because it will be faster and more sufficient than to call a friend from somewhere. Moreover, it cause a general feeling of insecurity. Scientifically proven fact, that individuals better feel themselves in a society, even if you are a “lone wolf”. For instance, to be in a good relationship with your neighbors does not mean a real friendship, but sometimes you may rely on each other in troubles.

From my point of view, the best solution is to be a friendly person. Become an initiator of conversation, do not be afraid to start a neutral topic such as weather or pets. If it suits your character, try to be active in public events. If it is not your cup of tea, at least try to greet your neighbors and even postmans in the elevator, on stairs, and on the street. Offer your help if in appropriate situations. Believe, all this will not go unnoticed and will return to you in a kindness.

To sum up, I truly believe that we can affect this situation in a positive way. The effective solutions are to initiate communication or just to be a friendly person with people around you.
